Mission of Blues was formed in 1994 as a Blues, R&B band with an eclectic taste for the Blues genre. The band has been active in the Boston and surrounding area music scene for seven plus years and has pleased every crowd that it plays for. The band started out establishing themselves in the Boston nightclub scene by playing smaller venues the likes of the Midway in Jamaica Plain, Billy Jacks in Hyde Park and larger clubs like Harpers Ferry. Soon they had established a loyal following amongst the local patrons of the Boston Blues scene. The band has continued to revise its repertoire to include many original compositions and personnel to form the tight cohesive unit that it is today. The band continues to fill the local Boston establishments every time they play. Cover songs are chosen both for obscurity and dancibility. In 1999 Mission of Blues was asked to compete in the Blues Talent Competition sponsored by the Boston Blues Society which has been won by the likes of Michelle (Evil Gal) Wilson, Susan Tedeschi and, The Movers. They took 1st Place. The band traveled to Memphis to compete in the International Blues Challenge after winning the Blues Talent Competition in Boston. After playing in Memphis, the band was asked to appear at the Sloss Blast Festival in Birmingham, Alabama. Currently the band is playing most of the better known blues clubs in the New England area, including Foxwoods Casino, The Sea Note, Holy Ground, Dante's and Union Blues to name a few. The band is also looking forward to its next CD. They have just completed recording and mixing the CD and look forward to a spring 2005 release.
